Proper wall preparation is one of the most important factors in successful lightweight thin stone veneer installation.

Stable substrates such as concrete, cement board, brick, and properly prepared drywall provide the best bonding surfaces. Any dust, grease, loose paint, or unstable material should be removed before installation begins.

For exterior applications, a waterproof moisture barrier is highly recommended to prevent water infiltration behind the stone system. Metal lath and scratch coats may also be required depending on wall type and local building standards.

Flat and level surfaces help improve veneer alignment and reduce installation difficulties. Uneven substrates may cause gaps, weak adhesion, or inconsistent stone appearance.

Careful preparation not only improves bonding strength but also extends the lifespan and performance of the finished stone wall system.
